Steven Gregory Felty - Badge 101
Chief Felty has spent his entire life in the fire station. His father is a retired chief of department and you could always find Greg under your feet and in your hair at the station nearly every day. In 1982, when he turned 18, he continued the legacy of another Felty on the hoseline. Greg has ascended the ladder of leadership serving as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and becoming Chief of Department in 2000 upon the retirement of Chief David Smith.

Edwin R. (Eddie) Rucker - Badge 102
Chief Rucker started
with the Grayson Fire Department in March of 1984. He was certified as a
firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician in 1986. In January of 1988
he was promoted to Lieutenant then in December was again promoted to
Captain. Chief Rucker received his Level II Instructors certification in
1995 and was promoted to Deputy Chief in 1997. Chief Rucker has over 4000
hours of classroom and practical training including Leadership and the Incident
Command System (ICS) from the U.S. Fire Administration National Fire Academy as
well as Operational Level for Hazardous Materials (Haz-Mat). Eddie works
for the Carter County Emergency Medical Service as an Emergency Medical

Duane A. Suttles - Badge 103
Chief
Suttles began his career with the Grayson Fire Department December 17, 1977 as a
junior firefighter, the equivalency of today's Cadet FF program. He was elevated
to Trainee status in 1980, the equivalency of today's Recruit FF status. In
1981, as a Trainee, he achieved his Kentucky Fire Fighter Certification. Since
becoming a regular Fire Fighter at the age of 18, Chief Suttles has progressed
through the ranks beginning with Captain in 1984, Assistant Chief in 1990,
Deputy Chief in 1993 and assuming the position of Fire Chief upon the retirement
of Chief Kendall Steele in 1996. Chief Suttles resigned as Chief in 1997,
stepping back to fire fighter to focus more his career as a State Training
Coordinator for State Fire Rescue Training, assigned to the Region 9 Office in
Morehead. On his last day as Chief, he commanded a devastating Main Street fire
that started in the Dollar General Store (formerly Baker's Department Store) and spread to 2 adjoining businesses
before being stopped by Grayson's fire fighters, saving several businesses from
destruction. Since 1997, he rose once again through the ranks serving as
Sergeant, Battalion Chief of Suppression and to his current position of
Assistant Fire Chief in charge of training. Chief Suttles has served this
community through celebrations and tragedies. He commanded several devastating
fires over the years including the Grayson Milling Company fire, Prichard
Elementary School fire, the Bagby Lumber Co fire, the Carter County Courthouse
arson fire and was one of the first responders on the scene when Grayson Police
Officer Jack Claywell was Killed in the Line of Duty in 1983. Chief Suttles is
employed by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (
KCTCS ) as a Regional Fire
Training Coordinator and Manager of Kentucky's ( IFSAC ) Accredited Fire Fighter
Certification Program and currently serves as a city councilman for the City of
Grayson ( City of
Grayson ).

William Kendall Steele - Badge 107
Captain Steele
joined the Grayson Fire Department in 1972 and has served in every capacity of
the department, including Chief in 1995-96. He currently heads the suppression
division of the department. Kendall enjoys spending his spare time on the golf
course.

Jack D. McKinney - Badge 108
Captain
McKinney serves two major roles within the department. He heads our support
division and serves as the spiritual leader in the role of Chaplain.

William G. (Bill) Burton - Badge 109
Bill
has been on the department for 18 years. He has been an Emergency Medical
Technician (EMT) for 15 years and was EMT of the Year in 1993. He attended
the National Fire Academy in Maryland in 1989 and became a certified firefighter
in 1991. Bill has completed arson investigation training, Wildland
Firefighting Awareness, as well as several hundred hours of classroom and
practical fire service training. He is a certified Level II Instructor as well as a
Driver/Operator instructor and was promoted to Captain in 2004. Early in
2006, Bill took a short leave of absence to pursue a career in law enforcement
and has since returned to the department. In accordance with the departments
policies, he returned to active status 1 less grade in rank than prior to his
leave. He enjoys
fishing, boating, movies and spending time with his daughter, Baylee.

As a daughter of Retired Chief David Smith, when Robin turned 18, she carried on the family tradition officially beginning her career as a fire fighter after serving 5 years in our cadet program. She obtained her EMT-First Responder certification at 18 and furthered her medical training by certifying as an EMT. Robin works as an EMT for Carter County EMS and serves as a full-time E911 Telecommunicator for Carter County. Matt Jones - Badge 170
Matt
is a recent addition to the Grayson Fire Department but has been with the
Hitchins Fire Department for several years. Matt received the Grayson Area
Chamber of Commerce Firefighter of the Year Award in 2004. He has nearly
two hundred hours of classroom and practical fire service training. He
currently attends Morehead State University with a major in Health Promotions
and a minor in Spanish. Matt's drive and determination rewarded him with
Eagle Scout while in the Boy Scouts. He enjoys movies, fishing, travel and
NASCAR. Matt was promoted to Sergeant in 2006.

Bob
has been a member of the department since 2001. He is at a
Firefighter II level with over 500 hours of classroom and practical fire service
training. He can function on the fire ground in all areas as Firefighter,
Incident Command or Operator/Engineer. Bobby was promoted to Sergeant in 2006.

Kyle Morgan - Badge 166
Kyle joined the GFD in 2005 and has become a vital asset to our department.
He has an aggressive attitude toward fire fighting and has proven to be a mentor
to younger members. Kyle has several years with the Olive Hill FD. He is
currently employed by Womack Development in the construction field. Kyle also
serves as an adjunct faculty member for KCTCS-State Fire Rescue Training Area

Jeremy Rodgers - Badge 156
Better
known as "Spanky", Jeremy joined the GFD in 2005 and has been a vital
asset to our department. He has an aggressive attitude toward fire fighting and
has proven to be a mentor to younger members and has brought his experience as a
Captain with the Olive
Hill FD. He is
currently employed as a Program Specialist with the Kentucky Fire Commission.
His main responsibility is auditing the records of over 850 fire departments in
the state. Spanky also serves as an adjunct faculty member for KCTCS-State Fire
Rescue Training Area 9 in Morehead.

Dwight started his firefighting career with Grayson in 1977 as a junior fireman, the equivalent of today's cadet. During the 1980's, Dwight began a career with the US Dept of Defense as a civilian military firefighter in South Carolina. He has continued that career, but has since transferred back to his native Kentucky to serve as a firefighter at the Bluegrass Army Depot.

Andrew Smith - Badge 165
Andrew has been on the
department since 2004 and has worked diligently to achieve his
Firefighter I certification by completing 150 hours of mandated training, which
he accomplished in April 2006.
Andrew is employed at Tri-State Airport and plans to complete the degree
program in Fire/Rescue Technology with KCTCS. He enjoys golfing, soccer, fishing and
NASCAR.

started his service with the department in June of 2002. In November 2004,
JJ obtained his state firefighter certification and has completed nearly 500 hours of classroom and practical fire service
training. JJ recently returned from boot camp where he is active in the
National Guard after completing Military Police training.

state firefighter certification in April 2006. Mark is currently working in construction and
is enrolled at KCU seeking a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with aspires to specialize
in pediatrics.

Tim started with the department in 2002. During that time he has received over 250 hours of classroom and practical fire service training. Tim is regularly employed with Cintas Corporation.

Bob Haggard-
Bob
started with the department in August of 2004. He has nearly completed his
150 hours of training for firefighter certification. Bob has previous
experience as a police officer and Emergency Medical Technician. He holds
a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration as well as an Associate of
Science Degree in Electronics Technology.

Charlie has been with the department for several years and is presently inactive to focus on his career as a paramedic.
