IN MEMORIAM

In the history of the Grayson Fire Department, only 1 brother has fallen in the Line of Duty. Firefighter 2nd Class Randy Gene Utley, badge #162, was killed 06/16/03 responding to a call for help during a severe thunderstorm.

Several fire departments were in service and a call was placed for civilians stranded in their home by floodwaters. FF Utley was responding to the fire station, when he hydroplaned and lost control of his privately owned vehicle (POV) striking a highway signpost at the drivers door. The cause of death was found to be Cardiac Arrest due to Severe Head Trauma.
